Sophia Günst (*1994) ist studierte Jazz-Sängerin und Multi-Instrumentalistin. Die gebürtige Kielerin erhielt mit sechs Jahren ihren ersten Cellounterricht. Darauf folgten Klavier-, Saxophon -und Gesangsunterricht. Sie spielte in diversen Orchestern, dem Chiffren Ensemble für Neue Musik und anderen preisgekrönten Ensemblen und Bigbands von Klassik, über Neue Musik bis hin zu Jazz, Pop und Funk. 

2014 folgte ein Vorstudium an der Jugendmusikschule Hamburg im Fach Jazzgesang. 

2019 schloss Sophia Günst im selben Fach den Bachelor am Prins Claus Conservatory in Groningen (NL) ab.

Seit 2020 studiert Sophia Günst im Master Jazz Gesang, Musikpädagogik und im Nebenfach Jazz Kontrabass an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in Leipzig.

Als Sängerin, Cellistin, Keyboarderin, Komponistin und Arrangeurin arbeitet sie in diversen Bands und Projekten in

Genres von Pop, Jazz und Neuer Musik. Außerdem arbeitet die Multi-Instrumentalistin seit 2021 als Theatermusikerin in diversen Produktionen(Werk 2 Leipzig und Cammerspiele Leipzig).

Im Jahr 2020 gründete Sophia Günst zusammen mit Annelie Weißel das Duo "Görda" (Alternative Pop, Songwriter, Jazz), in dem sie als Sängerin und Texterin, sowie an Cello, Loop Station und Keyboards aktiv ist. Das Duo veröffentlichte 2022 seine erste EP "Nach Uns die Synthflute" und gewann im selben Jahr die Preise "Best Songwriting" und "Best Instrumental Performance" im Bundesfinal Local Heroes.

Sophia Günst was born in April 1994 in Kiel, Germany.

As a child of classical musicians she took her first Cello lessons from her mother at the age of six. Later she took lessons with Ingo Zander.

At the age of nine, Günst started taking lessons in classcial and Jazz piano with Reinhard Brede, as well as saxophon, double bass and Jazz singing.

Sophia Günst succsesfully took part in competitons (Jugend Musiziert) and played in a number of orchestras (Landes Jugend Orchester SH), award-winning ensembles (Chiffren Ensemble) and bands. From Classical Music to Neue Musik, Jazz and Pop; numerous genres were part of her education.

After finishing the High School, Sophia Günst and Annelie Weißel spent nine months in New Zealand and Vietnam were the two multi-instrumentalists were writing songs, busking and eventually founded their duo called „GÖRDA“ which won the prizes "Best Songwriting" and "Best Instrumental Performance" at the "local heroes" competition in 2022.

In 2014, Sophia Günst started a one year preparation study at the Junge Musikschule Hamburg, with Marie-Laure Timmich as her vocal teacher.

In 2015 she moved to Groningen (NL) for a Bachelor study in Jazz Vocals at the Prins Claus Conservatory in the programm „New York Comes To Groningen“.

Sophia Günst learned from Francien van Tuinen, Marjorie Barnes, Deborah Brown and JD Walter as well as David Berkman, Adam Nussbaum, Gene Jackson, Steve Nelson, Don Braden, David Binney, Michael Mossman and many more renowned teachers from the Netherlands and New York.

She graduated her Bachelor in 2019 and moved back to Germany in March 2020.

Since October 2020 Sophia is studying a masters degree in Jazz singing and pedagogics at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelsohn In Leipzig, DE. She works as a singer, cellist, bass player and a composer in various genres for theaters and independet ensembles.
